Biography

“My biggest achievement so far is winning my fight against cancer in 2012”

Reece is a talented athlete and was diagnosed with a Learning Disability at a very young age.  This disability
has never stopped Reece in achieving his goals.

In 2012, Reece was diagnosed with cancer, but with his steely determanation, he won his battle and is in full remission.

Reece returned to training a mere 4 weeks after his treatment ended and has recently been selected as one of the first athletes to join the Durham Institute of Sport.
His coach Paul Smith at Chester le Street & District Athletics Club set a recovery programme for Reece to work towards,
it’s fair to say 2013 was set to be a recovery year but as far as Reece was concerned it was business as usual on track.

Reece qualified for DSE Junior Athletics Championships July 2013 and came home with 5 medals:

Silver 100m

Silver 200m
Silver 400m

Gold 4x100m

Silver 4x400m

this was followed up by 2 Bronze medals at the Tartan Games in 100m & 200m August 2013.
